Great Apes are the closest related species to humans yet they are in great decline due to social and environmental issues which include deforestation due to logging, mining and the climate crisis, poaching, civil wars and disease. Sixty percent of Gorillas have disappeared over the past two decades due to disease and poachers alone. These apes are an important
factor to the ecology of the tropical forests and help create balance in their habitat. We strongly believe the health of the animal kingdom mirrors the health of the human world. KONG’s mission is to spread awareness of the factors endangering the Great Apes and raise funds to help protect their habitat and enable their rescue.
As the Jungle King of DeFi, $KONG is a social enterprise token with a mission to give back to all animals through donations to conservation funds that specialize in environmental actions in jungle habitats, bush trade intervention, scientific research and adoption. The story of KONG DeFi started when a group of developers created the project with malicious intent. The project was, like many others, a pump and dump. People lost funds and morale, in a critical turning point, $KONG was salvaged by a core group who believe in the fundamental possibilities of DeFi as a global change maker, and it became a community project. We bonded together over the events that took place. Every person on the leadership team stepped up from the community to drive a change, and that’s when new project expectations were set.
